Key Focus: Manages relationships on behalf of NPS clients with Specialty Market Retailers and Specialty Market Wholesalers.
Experience: Has extensive experience in sales and marketing including areas such as formulating trade programs, cover analysis, channel development, product development and new title launches. During his career he was instrumental in establishing book & magazine programs with retailers such as General Nutrition Centers (GNC) and Home Depot. Prior to joining NPS in 2005 he was with the Meredith Corporation for over 15 years as the Executive Director of Retail Sales. During his tenure at Meredith he was instrumental in developing checkout programs, opening up new channels of distribution and launching numerous new products leading to retail sales growth from $67 million to over $200 million.




brian thevenyBrian Theveny – VP Sales and Marketing |
Key Focus: Retail marketing for Walmart, Home Centers, Specialty. Special retail projects such as custom prepacks, custom in-store promotions. National Distributor Relations.
Experience: 25 years experience in newsstand working in various positions at Reader’s Digest, PRIMEDIA and TV Guide. During his 25 years, Brian has been a key member in many successful newsstand launches. Prior to joining NPS, Brian was Director of Retail Sales for Reader’s Digest. In this role he was responsible for approx. $90 million in retail dollars which consisted of large and small circulation publications, product development, and key retail responsibility including breaking into accounts that had never before carried magazines. Brian was instrumental in the creation and sell-in of ad driven integrated marketing programs.




david goodmanDavid Goodman – Partner |
Key Focus: Manages print orders and serves as day-to-day liaison with National Distributors’ account executives and traffic departments. Also has role of primary legal counsel.
Experience: Prior to joining NPS in 1996, was an attorney at a Newark, N.J. law firm where his responsibilities included NPS legal matters and other business projects.

Has extensive executive management skills, marketing, new title launch, acquisition, distribution and contract negotiation experience. Prior to co-founding and co-owning NPS in 1991, was VP, Business Development at Curtis Circulation Company, Director of Marketing at Penny Press, Inc., and Newsstand Sales Director at the New York Times Magazine Group.
In 2013, co-founded / co-owner of i5 Publishing, formerly BowTie Publishing a special interest publisher with 15 magazine (consumer and B2B) brands, web sites, book publishing division and a distribution company.




bob mcilwainBob McIlwain – Founding Partner |
Key Focus: Manages day-to-day business finance activities and is involved in strategic planning initiatives.
Experience: Oversaw NPS interests in Ultimate Sports Publishing, a line of preseason sports publications, and Daytrotter.com, an online independent music website. Before NPS, was COO of Seattle based Preview Publishing, where he had previously held the positions of Circulation Director and Sales Director.
